The Best Places To Spend New Year In The UK

If you’re spending New Year in the UK, you won’t have a shortage of places to celebrate with your friends and welcome 2016 in style.

Edinburgh

The Scots take their New Year celebrations so seriously that they throw a three-day festival in the capital city! Complete with an array of events including a brand new Street Party for 2016, Hogmanay is something you have to experience at least once in your life. With torch processions, live gigs, dancing, drinking and of course the obligatory fireworks it’ll definitely give you a New Year’s Eve to remember.

London

Under the shadow of the iconic Big Ben – with its famous midnight bongs – and the London Eye, the capital is one of the best places to spend New Year in the UK with a massive street party on the banks of the River Thames. You can expect an absolute monstrous fireworks and pyrotechnic display to rival any other capital city in the world – unfortunately no longer free at £10 a pop. Save your money and head elsewhere in the city that’s high up, such as Primrose Hill, wrap up warm and enjoy a view of the fireworks free of charge!

Newquay

If you want to head somewhere away from the big, bright lights of the major cities then Newquay in Cornwall could be a great alternative. The popular surf town comes alive at New Year when visitors and residents alike are encouraged to join in with the street celebrations complete with fancy dress – the more outrageous the costume, the better! After plenty of celebrating in the town with street stalls, activities, dancing and lots of eating and drinking, everyone ends up at the main Central Square for the countdown to midnight and the fantastic firework display. On New Year’s Day, battle the effects of the night before with a refreshing dip in the sea!

Celebrate the New Year by getting your tax back!
