Tips For Kiwis In The UK Looking For Work

Top Job Sites For Kiwis Looking For Temp Work In The UK

Are you looking for temporary work in the UK? You would be glad to know that there are many job sites that you can use, which will make your hunt easier and more convenient.

There are specific temporary jobs, however, where you need not go on a job search when you arrive in the UK. This is because you already have a job offer for specific short-term employment even before you leave New Zealand. Under the Tier 5 Temporary Worker scheme, jobs are classified under five categories.

Charity Worker Category

This is for Kiwis interested to undertake temporary voluntary work that is related to the activities of a charitable organisation. You can volunteer for a maximum of 12 months without pay.

Creative and Sporting Category

Are you a creative artist, entertainer or interested to work in professional sport? If so, you should find a sponsor for this particular category. You can live and work in the UK for a year if you have a sports-related job, and two years if you are an artist or an entertainer.

Religious Worker Category

This is for anyone interested in doing temporary religious work. Unlike other work permits, this category specifies that the job should only be done during a holiday or break from New Zealand.

Government Authorised Exchange Category

This is only applicable for people on specially approved government worker exchange arrangements. You will be authorised to stay for a maximum of 24 months to participate in worker exchange programmes.

International Agreement Category

If you are an employee of the overseas government or international organisation, a part of a diplomatic household, or working under the General Agreement on Trade in Services, you will be eligible for this category. Depending on the position and international agreement, you can stay and work in the UK for a maximum of 72 months.

In the event that you are under the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme or a visa other than the Tier 5 Work Visa, you can do away with the sponsorship and search for jobs all by yourself. There are plenty of online recruitment agencies that you can check out, some of which specialises in temporary work.
